PLAYER REACTION: Hull/Nottingham
Ken Armstrong, #27, Forward
After a slow start in Hull and being 3 goals down we didn’t let our heads drop and turned the game around with 6 unanswered goals and won the game.
We had another slow start in Nottingham, who won the league last year, and conceded a few goals but showed good character again and managed to score 5 past them. Nottingham away is always a tough game and I think we were unlucky not to come away with any points. We need to regroup and get ready for the Coventry game on Sunday.

A double header away to Hull and Nottingham was never going to be easy, and that was proven in the first period on Saturday night, but all the lads showed great character to come from 3 down, we never let our heads drop and showed we’ve got quality all over the ice by scoring 6 unanswered goals.
We knew Sunday night at Nottingham was going to be a different story all together, and some might say to come away from the home of the champions losing by only two goals isn’t so bad, I can’t say I feel the same, the performance we put in and the heart we showed to keep clawing the game back deserved nothing less than a point. Again we showed quality at both ends of the ice, and that isn’t forgetting the performances Greg put in over the two nights in net, he was unbelievable at times in both games. This weekend we’ve shown our potential and that we are here to challenge the top teams in the league for points.

I feel on saturday we started slow with bus legs in the first period but shown really good character in the second and third to score six unanswered goals, it just shows how together we are as a team and what good team spirit we have in the dressing room. Sunday we knew it would be the hardest game of the season so far against the current league champions, but we were unlucky not to come out of Nottingham with a point. Nottingham are a quality side and shown they will take the chances they are given. I think we will be up there with the so called leagues big boys all season long, Gilly has put a strong work ethic in this squad and never say die attitude.

It was great to follow up our win against Sheffield with another 2 points against Hull. We made things tough for ourselves with another slow start, but really showed some character to come back from 3-0 down and take the victory.
Being able to outwork young teams like the Stingrays in the 2nd and 3rd periods is a real achievement, and will definitely send a message to the other teams in the league.
On a personal level, I feel like I’m gelling with the team well. Playing between Ben and Filip lets me use my speed, and I’m confident we’ll put up some decent numbers this year.
The WILD now turn their attention to the away trip to ex-NIHL1 team Coventry ENL Blaze. Any away travel details will be posted as soon as it is available!
