Phantoms Sign Jaroslav Cesky

The DALROD sponsored Peterborough Phantoms have tonight named Jaroslav Cesky as their fourth import for their upcoming 2013/14 English Premier League campaign.

Cesky joins the Phantoms from the Basingstoke Bison, having previously played for the Swindon Wildcats and Telford Tigers in the EPL. During his four seasons in the EPL Cesky has a points per game average of 1.54, with 140 goals and 181 assists in 321 league games.

The Czech sniper started his career in the US, playing for the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL before spending 4 seasons at Augsburg College in the NCAA. After a season in the UHL at the Adirondack Ice Hawks, he moved to the Tulsa Oilers of the CHL where he spent 3 seasons. After spells at the Oklahoma City Generals and the Flint Generals, Cesky spent a year in France playing for Chamonix before coming to the UK along with his goal scoring colleague Marcel Pinc. Together Pinc and Cesky terrorised defenses throughout the EPL.

Phantoms Head Coach Jon Kynaston was obviously delighted to have secured Jaroslav’s signature. “‘Jaro’ brings a lot of quality to the club.” siad Kynaston. “He has a wealth of experience and will perform well in all situations. He provides a constant offensive threat and is a good man to have on special teams.

“We’ve looked at him in the past but he has always been out of our bracket. Fortunately we’ve managed to attract him to the club now. We know what he can deliver and if we can keep him motivated, I’m sure he will do a really good job for us. I don’t think his teams in the last couple of seasons have played to his strengths and that is something we will endeavour to get right.

“We can exploit his qualities in our team and there is no doubt in my mind he can grab 30-plus goals. The deal is not yet officially confirmed but I expect the loose ends to be mere formalities.”
