Peacock Ready For A Challenging Weekend

The Stena Line Belfast Giants return to Elite League action this weekend, taking on the Stingrays in Hull on Saturday followed by a visit to Sheffield on Sunday. With the Hull Stingrays always proving a tough opposition and having already dropped points to the Steelers this season, forward Craig Peacock is expecting a challenging weekend for himself and his teammates,

“Yes absolutely, Hull is always a tough building to go to. They always have a strong team and put up a good opposition to play against. We know what Sheffield are like as we’ve met them a few times already this season and we came out on the wrong end of the result last time there and so we’ll want to make amends for that.”

To date in this current season the Giants have enjoyed important home wins against title rivals the Sheffield Steelers and the Nottingham Panthers however the Giants have yet to win in both rivals rinks and Peacock knows the importance of getting a good result on Sunday in Sheffield,

“At this time of the year you cannot win the league but you can definitely lose it and losing points against a title rival like Sheffield is definitely something we don’t want to do and so we’ll be trying to get the win.”

The weekends games against the Hull Stingrays and Sheffield Steelers sees the team begin a long stretch of games away from home, however Craig Peacock sees this as a good opportunity for the team to come together during November and build some momentum ahead of a busy schedule during the month of December,

“It’s always tough when you’re on the road for a long time. Hopefully we’ll build some team character when we’re away, it’ll be a test for us. Team morale is really good, we’ve had a really strong week of practice and the boys are looking sharp and looking forward to getting on the ice at the weekend.”
