Paul Adey Wary Of Resurgent Devils
Stena Line Belfast Giants Head Coach Paul Adey spoke ahead of this weekend’s Elite League away game against the Cardiff Devils. With having played the Devils already this season – Paul Adey knows to expect a tough and physical game when they visit Wales on Saturday and has been preparing his team all week for the challenge.
“Obviously Cardiff is a smaller rink- so we’ve been working on ‘close in’ drills this week and be ready for those one-on-one battles that we’re going to have a lot of during the game so that’s one way we’ll prepare for the game.”
The Stena Line Belfast Giants have made one visit to Cardiff this season already – coming away with two points following a 7-2 win during the first weekend of the season in early September. That night the goals came from Cheverie, Elfring, Szwez, Higgins, Keefe (2) and Sandrock and when asked if coming up against the Devils already this season will help his team’s preparations, Paul Adey had this to say:
“Yes for sure, plus you get to know their players a little bit more and the lines and match-ups that you want. Now that i’ve been in the rink (this season) i’ll know what to expect. Cardiff may have struggled at the start but lets not forget that they did not have their number one goalie for most of the games. He has been back for two games now and they split last weekend’s games against Sheffield with a win and a loss. Cardiff have a good team and we are going to have to play a really good game to get some points from them.”
