Paul Adey ‘Looking Forward To The Battle Ahead’

This weekend sees the Stena Line Belfast Giants back in action at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast with an important Elite League clash against the Sheffield Steelers, face-off 7pm. On Sunday the Giants then travel to England to take on the Coventry Blaze and Head Coach Paul Adey has spent this week preparing his team for two important battles, with Sheffield first up on Saturday:

“We’ve been working on just about everything this week. We are ready for the game already and we still have a day to go but I can tell the guys are ready for the game.”

On Wednesday, the Giants announced the re-signing of Craig Peacock, who returns to the lineup on Saturday at the Odyssey Arena and Adey was excited at the prospect of the former player’s return:

“The signing of Craig Peacock helps us – he is proven at this level. He’s a good guy who plays with a lot of heart which is important for us. He’ll give us some depth as, if we have any injuries, it gives us some cover. I’m looking forward to having him in the lineup and seeing him play.”

Elite League games against the Sheffield Steelers and the Coventry Blaze have a rich history and Paul Adey knows just how much to talk to his players in order to motivate them for this weekends’ games:

“I think if anything not to say too much, the players know this is a big weekend and you do not want to build it up too much. We have to focus on our practicing, focus in on our gameplan for the night and just be ready to play. I think we have enough experience in our lineup and I don’t need to say to much to these guys.”

“They’re (Sheffield) obviously a decent hockey team, there is no question about that. This weekend for us is important, it’s a big home game against Sheffield – we are looking forward to the challenge and to the battle ahead.”
