Parsons Back For The New Season

The Dragons will have one of the most feared striking line-ups in the Laidler Conference next season, after James Parsons agreed on a return to Flintshire.
The 27-year-old will join Slovakian Filip Supa at Deeside Ice Rink, as the club prepares for its first NIHL campaign under new owners Red Hockey.
Parsons became Head Coach Lol Paul’s fourth signing this week, following a year that saw him collect 53 points in just 34 matches.
The Dragons chief believes Parsons’ record means “entertainment” will become a watchword for supporters at Deeside Ice Rink.
He said: “Bringing James back is a no-brainer for me. He has all the attributes to be an outstanding player for us. Alongside Filip Supa, we now have two of the best forwards in the league.
“Giving fans great entertainment is a big part of our plan for the year, although of course that won’t come at the expense of league points.
“We are looking to build a powerful squad that will compete at the top of the Laidler Conference. James is going to a big piece in that puzzle.
“His statistics say it all for me, and he is a solid, reliable forward who won’t back down. We are going to need guys like that in every single game.”
Parsons has spent virtually his entire career in Deeside, apart from two short loan spells with Telford Tigers.
That stay-at-home attitude meant retaining his services was a key target for Paul.
“I have already talked about having a team full of leaders, but a local connection is also vital,” he said.
“When I walked into this job, getting James to stay was a crucial part of my strategy. He has been here pretty much all of his career, and is very much the heartbeat of the club.
“To be fair, he wasn’t interested in going anywhere else, so it was a very easy decision for both of us.”
The Dragons will also reveal plans for season tickets within the next week, as well as own and loan shirts.
