Oxford City Stars are delighted to announce a partnership with charity Tickets for Troops (T4T) to offer servicemen and women hundreds of free tickets to watch Oxfordshire’s fastest growing sports team.

The initiative, which aims to support the work of serving military personnel and veterans by offering free tickets to a wide range of events, will be active in time for Stars’ next home fixture vs Invicta Dynamos on Sunday 29th January.

Set up in 2009, Tickets for Troops aims to reward the servicemen and women who spend months away from their families and need to be available to serve at short notice, and recognises their commitment, drive and dedication.

This is the first in a wide variety of initiatives set to be introduced by the Stars to ensure that as many people and families as possible are given the opportunity to attend Ice Hockey fixtures in Oxfordshire.

New Head of Supporter Relations, Sarah Gooding, said, “Oxford City Stars is proud to be able to offer troops and their families the opportunity to enjoy some exciting sporting action in Oxfordshire, whilst enjoying some much deserved time off from duty. Our partnership with Tickets for Troops is the first in a range of initiatives we plan to introduce to make Stars one of the most accessible and family-friendly sporting teams in the county.”

A Tickets for Troops spokesperson said: “We are delighted that Oxford City Stars has decided to recognise the brave men and women who serve our country by offering them tickets to their home matches at the Oxford Ice Rink this season. The Stars are a rapidly growing team and Ice Hockey is becoming hugely popular amongst our members, so it’s great to be able to give them a chance to enjoy some well-deserved time-off with their families and friends and maybe discover a new sport!”
