Oxford City Stars Stalwart joins in New Role
Morvan joined the Stars in 1984, quickly establishing himself as a no-nonsense defenceman popular with fans. Darryl went on to Captain and Coach the club in different spells.
Darryl will be responsible for recruiting and communication with Head Coach and building out the clubs coaching team as well as finalising all player recruitment.
Darryl will also forge important links with the Junior club, assisting development strategies with the goal of increasing the player talent pool within our City.
Darryl said of his new role “I’m thrilled to be taking on this new role and looking forward to working with both the Stars management team and the Junior club. Both the Stars and the junior club have made great progress in the last year and my remit is not only to consolidate and build on those successes, but to also ensure that junior players who show the aptitude and attitude to work with the Stars get the opportunity. I know the Stars directors and the junior club have a joint vision to have as many Oxford developed players in the team as possible, and forming this closer tie in relation to the coaching can only be a positive step towards that vision being realised”
Director James Schall added “Darryl joining us in this senior role is significant for the stabilisation of the club, He brings with him a vast pool of contacts, experience and advice. I also know first-hand that Darryl shares the same passion to see Oxford succeed as we do. I’m already excited by the discussions we’ve already had”
Morvan joins with immediate effect and retains his current coaching links with the Junior Club
