Oxford City Stars snap up goal machine

Oxford City Stars have swooped to snap up goal-machine
Olly Shone.

Shone, 26, has signed from Bristol Pitbulls, where he
spent nine seasons.

The former England youth player scored 52 goals in the
last two seasons at the Pitbulls.

Shone said: “I’m excited to get going in Oxford and I
hope that I can bring something to the team.

“Obviously I’ve played against The Stars a lot during
my time at Bristol and I’ve always thought Oxford are a tough team for anyone
to face.

“To the have the chance to play for the team and make
the step up from Bristol is a good opportunity and I’m hopeful I can have a
positive impact.

“The club has a great set up and great fan base and
most importantly, Oxford play good hockey so I’m looking forward to getting
started.”

Head Coach Simon Anderson said: “Olly is someone who I
have watched on a few occasions over the years. Looking at his resume, he is a
goal-scorer pure and simple.

“He is a consistent 20 goals a season scorer at NIHL2
level and I think if you know where the net is you can do it at any level.

“Olly is also a big guy and has a gritty side to his
game as well, so I think he will thrive at NIHL1 level.

“It is a great opportunity for Olly to try a different club and league after being a loyal player for Bristol and I know he is as excited as we are to get going.”
