Oxford born Jones returns to the City
Warren was part of the Basingstoke Buffalos squad for the last two seasons, scoring 18 goals in 31 games for the NIHL2 side.
Warren started his career in Oxford and is delighted to return to Oxpens Road and represent his home city once again
Jones declared “I’m really happy to be back at Oxford, as soon as Darryl spoke to me I knew I had a tough decision to make. The new relationship between the junior and senior clubs is a huge step for Oxford and I’m really excited about that, it’s something that wasn’t there when I came through”.
Warren added “I loved my time at Basingstoke and am incredibly grateful for the opportunities they gave me to develop and progress. I’d like to say a massive thank you to Basingstoke’s coaches for offering me that chance. The respect I have for Darryl Morvan made the decision easier, as well as knowing lot of other guys wanting to join Oxford this season. I’m looking forward to playing with everyone again, the last time I played for Oxford I was still a teenager, and now having a couple of years senior experience I’m looking forward to bringing that home, showing the fans and playing a part in the future of hockey in Oxford. Let’s go yellows!”.
Head of Hockey Operations Darryl Morvan said “I’m pleased to get Warren added to our squad, he’s had a couple of great seasons away from Oxford and I’m sure he’ll impress the fans with how he’s improved as a player since his last time here”.
Jones is the first of many player announcements due over the next few weeks as Oxford City Stars build their team to assault NIHL2 South
