Our Turn For Scott Matzka

Scott Matzka played pro Ice Hockey for 8 years before coming to the Elite League, joining the Cardiff Devils from 2010-2012.

In 2015 Scott was diagnosed with Amyothropic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Unfortunately there is no cure for this condition. In 2014 people all over the world took part in the ‘ALS Ice Bucket Challenge”, raising over $100 million for research projects.

As would expected of a hockey player, Scott reacted proactively, and set a goal of raising as much awareness and understanding for ALS as he can. His theme is “My Turn”. As their show of support, the Cardiff Devils are holding a Matzka night. When the Giants ran our “Bleed Teal for Tom” campaign, we were overwhelmed by the support right across the Elite League. So this time its “our turn” to support the fundraiser, and we will berunning a raffle with all the proceeds being added to the Devil’s efforts.

The prize is a night at the Devils game vs the Giants in Cardiff – it is for game tickets flights and accommodation 2 people to Cardiff. (T & C apply) Tickets will be sold at Giants home games on 24th September vs Dundee and 1st October vs Cardiff from the merchandise booths and sellers on the concourse. Tickets are £2 each or 3 for £5. Please help this worthy cause, and perhaps win a great trip!
