NEWS: Comets uphill task as south Wales summit looms large
October 20, 2017
Players from the club will be climbing Pen-Y-Fan in full hockey kit – this is the highest peak in south Wales at 2907ft above sea level. The mountain is situated in Brecon Beacons National Park.
Comets players will be making the climb on November 12 and have set themselves a target of £800 to fund new equipment and additional ice sessions for development events to try and bring new players into the sport.
Founded in 1994 they are one of the longest serving members of the EIHA women’s leagues and the only Welsh team to play. They were Premier League and playoff champions in 2003.
Their fundraising efforts so far this season have featured a bag pack at Morrison’s supermarket in Cardiff Bay, where the team also had a chance for visitors to try their hand at shooting.
If you would like to support their efforts climbing Pen-Y-Fan the club have a JustGiving page set up https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/CardiffCometsPenYFan
