Oxford City Stars position in the new look NIHL Division One
South has been confirmed, along with the clubs we will be competing against.

The clubs and management of the National Ice Hockey League
(NIHL) held their annual section meetings at the weekend and agreed the format
of competitions for the season.

The Stars formally confirmed the club’s entry into the new
league for the eagerly anticipated 2019/20 season.

We will compete with nine other clubs in the league competition:
Invicta Dynamos, Streatham IHC, MK Thunder, Cardiff Fire, Slough Jets,
Bracknell Hornets, Raiders 2, Solent Devils, and Chelmsford Chieftains.

The teams will play two home and two away against each other for the regular
season, with the top eight sides qualifying for post-season play-off.  The
exact format of the playoffs will be confirmed later.

Stars Head Coach Simon Anderson said: “It’s going to be a very
competitive league and we’re all looking forward to playing against some very
good clubs.

“Every game will be a real contest, which will be a great
challenge for the club and should also provide fantastic entertainment for the
supporters. We’re very busy recruiting players and have a number of live conversations
on-going and look forward to announcing more players in the coming weeks.”

Stars director Greig Box Turnbull said: “We’re pleased the
format has now been agreed and we can now finalise our plans for the new campaign.
It will be a bigger and better league than the one we played in last season,
with stronger sides and more fixtures. It should add a lot of interest for
supporters and some different rinks to visit during the season.

“Now that the number of games has been confirmed we are busy
working on the season ticket packages. Please do bear with us during this
period. Season tickets are the best value way to watch all the Stars’ home
games and the best way to help support your club. We’d encourage fans to buy
one if they can.”
