New EIHA Head of Training & Development
Further to our ongoing re-structuring process, I am delighted to announce that Joy Johnston has accepted the position of Head of Training & Development for the Officiating Section of the EIHA.
Joy brings to us extensive experience from both the domestic and international hockey scene. She is a product of the EIHA officiating programme and developed through our leagues to achieve an international license. During her international officiating career, she was assigned for some of the highest level international tournaments, including the past three Winter Olympics (Torino 2006, Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014).
In 2015 she was appointed as a Trainee-Referee Supervisor for the IIHF. She spent the past 2 years working for the Abu Dhabi Ice Sports Club building up an officiating programme from scratch in the United Arab Emirates.
Joy will be attending and instructing at this year’s summer seminars to give her insight into our current programme and enable her to devise a plan for the future education and training of officials in the EIHA. In addition, Joy will also carry out Supervisory assignments for the EIHA.
I am sure you would like to join me in welcoming Joy to our programme, and we look forward to working with her to drive our training and development plan forward.
Yours, in Sport,
Referee in Chief
