My call is for fans, says Washburn

Tigers NIHL chief Mike Washburn has challenged fans to take advantage of free entry offers – and back his side to victory against Sheffield on Saturday.

Holders of Tigers EPL season tickets and ticket stubs can watch NIHL games for free, alongside regular prices of just £6 for adults and £3 for children.

The high-flying Shropshire youngsters host Sheffield Senators just a week after their remarkable win over Solihull Barons, when hundreds of fans packed the stands at Telford Ice Rink.

And Tigers NIHL General Manager Mike Washburn wants a similar atmosphere on Saturday.

He said: “The thing that particularly took my eye during our recent epic win over Solihull Barons at home was the number of Tigers supporters who were wearing EPL jerseys – to be quite honest when these folks combined with our regular fans, the impact was amazing.

“It was a sea of both noise and colour, which just drowned the fairly sizeable Solihull Barons travelling support out. The lift that it gave the players on the ice was obvious, and given the amount of noise and chanting going on it felt closer to a cup tie than a regular league game.

“We could really do with this, and more again this Saturday – of course our team want to play top drawer ice hockey and perform, but what really drives them is to do well for their own supporters and to give them an experience that they won’t forget.

“The challenge is that it would be brilliant to turn up with even more colour, more noise and more banter than we did last weekend and for sure – our boys will put on a show that will not disappoint.”

Saturday’s game, at Telford Ice Rink, faces off at 5.30pm.
