Telford Tigers netminder Thomas Murdy is determined to play his part in the club’s play-off push – despite having arrived in Shropshire just a few weeks ago.

The 22-year-old has quickly established himself as a tough competitor between the pipes, starring in Sunday’s 3-2 victory over EPL title-chasers Guildford Flames.

In that match, Murdy faced 32 shots, a performance which saw him claim the Man of the Match award.

And with the season now entering a crucial phase, he is looking to repay the faith of Tigers coach Tom Watkins.

“I talked to Tom before I came here and I liked his plans. He wanted three good netminders available for every game,” Murdy said.

“It has been good so far and the club has some great players. I didn’t really expect to be playing so soon, but it is nice to have come in and help the team out.”
