More Local Stars to Lace Up For Elliott Testimonial

The local lad who worked his way through the Oxford Junior setup up to the Stars is in for the Testimonial Oxford Team! Will played his first game for the Stars during the 2013/14 when they won the NIHL2 South Championship as an under 18’s player stepping up to the seniors. This hardworking defenceman has featured over fifty time for the Oxford City Stars also experiencing spells in the NIHL2 for Bristol Pitbulls and Basingstoke Buffalo. Harrison added further NIHL2 Championship titles during the 2014/15 and 2017/18 seasons with the Stars and the Elliott Testimonial event sees Will return to his hometown rink at the Oxpens Arena!

Choo chooooo….The fittest player in the league Mike Whillock will be steam rolling his way around the rink for the Testimonial Oxford Team! Whillsy recently had a season out in the Swedish Second Division with Svenstaviks HK in 2018/19 before returning in time to complete the remainder of the season with Oxford City Stars. Whillock grew up playing his junior hockey across both Swindon and Oxford with impressive stats earning him a Great Britain U18’s call up where he features four times. Spells in Germany and Sweden have no doubt added to his hockey knowledge and skating ability and we look forward to witnessing this extremely energetic, all action and hard skating forward on the ice!

The smooth stick handling Joe Edwards has been snapped up for the Testimonial Oxford Team! Joey had no hesitation confirming his availability for the Elliott Testimonial event despite heading in the direction of Milton Keynes Thunder mid-way through last season. Edwards spent the majority of his junior years honing his skills with the Slough Jets before returning to Oxford to play in his first games for the Oxford City Stars in the ENL during the 2007/08 season. This versatile forward has skated with the best of them; lining up in the Elite League for the Edinburgh Capitals, Slough Jets and Basingstoke Bison in the EPIHL and has shown that he has the ability to score from pretty anywhere in the end zone! Fans will be looking  forward to seeing Joe at Oxpens once again.

ALAN GREEN (Greeny/Steamy)

The Stars legend and former goal machine Alan Green returns to star for the Testimonial Select Team! Greeny has wowed the crowds over the years with his season on season scoring stats which include scoring over four hundred points in less than two hundred and fifty games for the Oxford City Stars and his prolific feats have seen his beloved number sixteen retired by his hometown club. Greeny who is also know as Steamy within the hockey community has won no fewer than five NIHL Championship titles with his first being achieved with Chelmsford Chieftains back in the 2011/12. Another league Championship title with the Slough Jets and a further two league Championships and a National Championship title with the Oxford City Stars has always seen Greeny contribute with an import like number of goals!

Another blast from the past Rob Poulter has been lined up to play for the Testimonial Select Team! Rob may be an unfamiliar face to some of the Stars faithful, but not to those who’ve played the game at junior level in Oxford. Poulter made his senior debut back in 1995/96 when he played in two games for the Oxford City Stars, unfortunately shortly after that time he fell out of love with the game and subsequently hung up his skates. After a ten years break the hockey bug saw Rob return back to the ice with the RAF Blue Wings where he currently still plays. As a professional Spirits and Cocktail Consultant away from hockey Rob will get the opportunity to share the ice once again with Mr Elliott and experience the bumper crowd in full force!

The final netminder for the Testimonial Select Team sees James Skaife hit the ice after a very long break from hockey! Skaify last featured for the Stars in 2014/15 and the former England junior player will make his long awaited return to the Oxpens Arena to celebrate Elliotts big day. This seemingly quiet, talented and reliable netminder will be hoping to turn back the clocks to the days where he boasted a .927 saves average for the Oxford City Stars. James was an integral part of the two Championship wining Oxford teams during the 2012/12 and 2013/14 seasons and not only produced performances where he ‘stood on his head’ but has also featured in previous Abingdon Bathrooms & Kitchens’ past calendars!
