More Legends and Netminders Confirmed For Elliott Testimonial


The Testimonial Oxford Team have moved to secure the netminder positions by tying down Mark Duffy for the event! The current Bracknell Hornets man has played a total of three seasons with the Oxford City Stars first appearing in the 2016/17 season which quickly saw the fans take to The Duffman due to his lovable character and fantastic performances on the ice. Duffy was instrumental between the pipes in helping the Stars secure the 2017/18 NIHL2 League Championship as well as the NIHL2 National Championship title with his best saves percentage coming from that season. He’ll be going all out to spoil the big day for all players he faces by halting their scoring efforts while in net!


The second of the Testimonial Oxford Team netminders sees the former two time EPIHL Champion Tommy Annetts confirmed! This reliable, classy netty played a total of one and half seasons for the Oxford City Stars in the NIHL1 division and was brought in from the Bracknell Bees who were playing in the league above. Annetts shored up the Stars defence during his time with Oxford notably due to his excellent ability but also due to his ice cool game day demeanor. Having not featured for the Stars since 2016/17 Tommy will join forces with his old friend Mark Duffy to provide an extremely strong combination for the Select Team!


The Testimonial Select Team can confirm that Andy Cox will be back on the ice at Oxpens Arena! Coxy who holds the second highest number of appearances for the Oxford City Stars retired at the end of the 2017/18 season has maintained his affiliation with the Club in an Ambassadorial role alongside James Clarke. The former Stars stalwart has played at various levels of British hockey including teams such as Edinburgh Capital, Milton Keynes Lightning, Streatham Redskins and Slough Jets where he won the NIHL2 East Championship and the most assists in the League by a defenceman accolade. The majority of his career however was enjoyed playing for the Stars, winning NIHL2 Championship’s on three occasions in 2012/13, 2013/14 and 2017/18 seasons. Coxy will be back in front of the local crowd to celebrate his life long friend Elliott’s fantastic career!


Another Testimonial Select Team announcement! The Stars legend and recent team owner/assistant coach Scott Gough will no doubt dust off his skates and have his well known toe drag move on show for the event! Another fans favourite who has had a stand at the Oxpens Arena named after him, Gougher has been heavily involved and instrumental behind the scenes for the Stars in ensuring the stability of the club, as well as assisting the recent head coaches with team practices and game day preparations. Scott had the pleasure of witnessing Elliott’s breakthrough into senior hockey and has since forged a great friendship with Darren, This feisty Scotsman will aim to wow the crowd with his all action style which should add some classy goals during the game!
