McKenzie, who returned to Telford last season after a brief spell in Manchester, struggled to regain his scoring touch at the start of the current campaign.

The addition of Adam Walker, Ricky Plant and Dan Scott have, however, given the 27-year-old a new lease of life, and helped him discover a rich vein of form in recent weeks.

He said: “A hockey player can change his fortunes with the slightest thing, whether it is a well-timed pass or an assist on a goal. That can make all the difference.

“Over the last few seasons, I seem to have had a mini slump around this time. But with these new guys coming in, one or two goals have really helped.

“Moving forward over the rest of the season, I want to keep this run going. The rest of the lads have all had a big lift from the new signings and we are all thriving off each other.”
