Luke Out – Wild have Signed a New Goalie
The Widnes Wild are delighted to welcome Luke Wilson-Owen to the team for next season. Luke comes to the Wild from the Hawks D2 team where he played 31 games and faced 1671 shots, approximately 500 shots more than any other goalie in the league last season. Luke also backed up and trained with the EIHL Manchester Storm during his first season playing senior hockey.
A young player, who only started playing ice hockey as a teenager using gloves originally owned by Wild legend Greg Ruxton, has faced a lot of rubber in his short career as well as having the opportunity to train with and back-up the Storm. Going forward Luke will be supported by the Wild this season if the Storm wish to utilise his young talent.
Commenting on signing with the Wild, Luke said,
“I’m really happy that Ollie has given me the chance to play at Widnes. I’m really looking forward to playing with a great group of guys and I can’t wait for the new season to begin.”
The Wild will be holding a final trial on the 22nd July for players interested in playing for the two-time playoff winners and players interested in playing in the black and gold are requested to email player-coach Ollie Barron directly.
