Local GB player returns:

The Solway Sharks reputation for being a strong development club is enhanced today with another dual GB junior international signing up for the new season.

Stuart Kerr has represented Great Britain at u18 and u20 – the latter most recently at Dumfries Ice Bowl last December.

The 20-year-old defenceman made his senior Sharks debut in 2014 and has developed in that time into a dependable member of the blueline corps.

Head coach Martin Grubb said: “Stuart is a player who has improved every year and has played in lots of key situations for us and he was rewarded by a GB 20’s call up last year.

“He is keen to learn and has a great attitude towards the game and I look forward to pushing him even more this season. He skates very well, sees the ice well and is hungry to succeed and we look forward to having him back on our blue line.”

Kerr, who picked up 1+6=7 with just 12PIM in league play last term, said: “I am looking forward to another year with the Sharks and improving all aspects of my game with the guidance of Martin and older team mates.

“This year i think we can be more successful knowing the standard of the league and what quality we need to play at every weekend.”

Stuart Kerr will wear the #6 shirt this coming season, this is available on the own and loan scheme, priced at just £100 per shirt. If you are interested in this or any sponsorship options then email rab.murray@solwaysharksihc.co.uk.
