League Decision on Unplayed Games

The RTL Widnes Wild have received the following notification from the League Management Committee.  The results awarded mean that Wild have been awarded three points and finish second in the league equal on points, winning three of the four games between the teams.

————————–

The following results/awards have been decided by the LMC

Hull Jets v Widnes Wild – 0-5 – teams are expected to be able to play (given reasonable notice) on all weekend days in the season unless it is agreed otherwise prior to the season (and the preparation of the fixtures schedules). Three dates were put to Hull when both teams had no other game and all were rejected until a short notice offer was put to Widnes for one of them. Hull were asked to put forward any free date when they could play and failed to do so. There was more than two months of the season left to fit in the rearrangement following the Jets agreement to the original date being moved.

Bradford Bulldogs v Dragons 2.- awarded 0-0 – insufficient evidence to do otherwise taking into account time constraints.

Dragons 2 v Widnes Wild – awarded 0-0 – insufficient evidence to do otherwise taking into account time constraints.

Coventry Blaze v Sheffield Senators – awarded 0-0 – insufficient evidence to do otherwise taking into account time constraints.

It should not be assumed that the LMC allocates equal blame to both teams in all 0-0 awards. The subject of teams responsibilities to the league, and other teams, when it comes to the fulfilment of fixtures will be the subject of discussion at the next section meeting.
