Kyle Horne makes his new home at the Shark Tank
Kyle joins the Sharks having spent the majority of his career playing for Fife Flyers in the BNL and Elite League and he has also played for Edinburgh Capitals, Slough Jets and represented GB at U18, U20 and senior level.
The six foot one inch left-handed defenceman has a wealth of experience and has always been hugely popular with team mates and fans alike at all his clubs. He will be a huge asset to the Sharks backline with his defensive ability, leadership and team-first attitude as the league season edges ever closer.
Kyle comes to Dumfries with over four hundred and fifty Elite League games under his belt together with two hundred and fifty BNL games. When talking to the Sharks webpage Kyle said “I am delighted to be joining the Sharks this season and can’t wait to help the boys in the new league set up. I have spoken to Martin a few times about coming here in the past and I think now was the right time after getting healthy again. I like what Martin has done here over the years and how the club wants to continue its development. I know the team has a great spirit, is run professionally and has some great young players coming through. I will be doing whatever I can to help the team and club achieve their goals for this season and beyond”.
Head coach Martin Grubb was delighted to finally get his long term target and said “Kyle is someone I have known nearly all his hockey life and a player I have tried to bring here a few times before. He is a player who puts everything on the line each night and is a true leader on the ice. Our young guys will learn from him. He reads the game very well, makes a good first pass, can play in all situations, plus he will add some size to our team so I think he will fit in nicely. He took last season off to get his body back to being able to play to the level he can rather than playing through injuries. He is now fit once more and desperate to get back contributing to our team every game and having fun again. I am looking forward to working with Kyle and the players and fans will instantly see why I wanted him here as he will have the same impact that Hutchy had last season and I think we can all agree how successful that was”.
Horne will wear #5 and we look forward to seeing him in the new Sharks uniform when the season starts.
