Kiviranta Injury Propels Finn Forward
Telford Tigers import Miika Kiviranta believes a mid-season injury break helped to launch his current rich vein of form.
Kiviranta, 23, suffered a broken finger against Sheffield Steeldogs in October, leaving him out of action for over three weeks.
That injury lay-off co-incided with a run of defeats for the Tigers, as they suffered without the Finn’s goals.
But when the takeover by Red Hockey began to bear fruit, Kiviranta returned to a very different Telford line-up – and his form blossomed as a result.
He said: “As a player, it was very difficult to sit back and watch those games. We lost the majority of matches while I was away and when I came back, there were a lot of new guys in the side.
“It felt much better when I came back, and I seemed to click with Timo Kuuluvainen almost straight away. That helped me a lot.
“We play together very well, mainly because we have similar styles.”
