Jordan Smotherman Named Elite League Player Of The Week
Stena Line Belfast Giants forward Jordan Smotherman is the Elite League’s Player of Week 27.
The 32-year old, who joined the Giants at the beginning of February, scored two key goals over the weekend as the Giants beat Glasgow on Friday before defending their Challenge Cup title on Sunday.
“It was an unbelievable feeling on Sunday in the Challenge Cup Final,” said the man who got the overtime winning goal to clinch the game for his side. “To see all of the guys rushing off the bench to celebrate that goal was great. It’s got to be up there at the top of the best goals of my career!”
Smotherman’s arrival has been impressive, with a return of 10 points in 14 games, and he’s already seeing what the team means to the fans. “You get a sense of it the first time you walk into our building. This is more than just something people follow, it’s a real passion for them, and to be able to celebrate the win with all of the fans that came over was also very special” he added.
