Joe Myers returns to the Fire for 16/17

Cardiff Fire are pleased to announce Joseph Myers for his 2nd season with the Fire. Joe joined the Fire last season from the Elite League Breahead Clan and shared netminding duties with Luke Takel. Joe finished the season with an incredible 93.8% save percentage and brings a wealth of experience. 29-year-old Myers has spent the majority of his career in Cardiff with the Cardiff Devils Elite League team, learning form some of the best goalies in the UK. Joe has also has spells away from Cardiff more recently playing for the Braehead Clan in the Elite League, in addition Joe spent time playing in the Premier league for Slough Jets and Romford Raiders.

Mark Cuddihy added “Delighted to bring Joey back for another season, Joe is a class act and the knowledge he has gained playing in the Elite league proved invaluable to us last season. He helped the team on and off the ice and everyone in the club can learn from him. We will also be looking to get him qualified as a coach this summer.  On the ice he was fantastic. He’s too good for this league and we are very lucky to have 2 fantastic goalies, it makes a big difference through the season knowing that we have the best goalie partnership in the league by far”

Joe Myres continued “We had a great team and a very good first season. It was a pleasure to play with the guys and I think anyone who came to watch our games will see that we are more than just teammates we are a real family. Next season we are looking to go one better. I’ve kept in contact with Cudd throughout the summer and we are looking to improve the team so we can make it over that final hurdle and win ourselves promotion. We had great support from, family, friends and supporters and hoping with a little extra next season we’ll achieve even better things.

See you on the ice in a few weeks. Myersthegoalie #87″
