Joe Morris returns to the Fire and Tom Smith wears a Fire jersey for the first time!!

Cardiff Fire are delighted to announce that Welsh players Joe Morris and Tom Smith sign up for the Fire for 2018/19 season.

Joe Morris returns to the Fire for his 3rd season in the jersey following a fantastic season last year. Joe scored a point a game in the Fire 2 team last season and stepped up to the Fire 1 team 5 times. Joe also won the accolade of players player of the year last season and was arguably the best Defenceman in Fire 2 last term.

At only 23 years old Joe has vast experience of senior hockey playing 16 games as a 16 year old in the Cardiff NIHL team and has played in every season since playing in 162 games at senior level. Joe enjoyed his best season for points last season scoring 18 points (8 goals) in just 17 games.

Also joining the Fire is veteran defenceman Tom Smith. Tom is the younger brother of former Cardiff NIHL assistant coach Ben Smith and has played most of his senior career in Cardiff. First playing NIHL/ENL in Cardiff during the 2007/08 season the 32 year old makes his return to Cardiff following a period of living and working in Canada. Whilst working in Canada Tom didn’t stop playing hockey. Tom is a calm experienced defender that brings a lot of experience and leadership within the room. He’s a big physical presence and has looked great in pre-season.

Welcome back to the Fire Family Joe Morris and welcome to the Fire Family Tom Smith!!!!
