Job Vacancy at Blackburn Hawks
Due to expansion in community sports provision at Silver Blades Blackburn an exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a full time Community Development Officer based in Blackburn.
The successful candidates will work alongside existing hockey coaches, volunteers and staff, ensuring that the best opportunities are available to produce ice hockey players of the highest possible level and to ensure that everyone in the local community has the opportunity to learn to skate and to play ice hockey and ice sledge hockey.
A coaching or playing role within the Blackburn Hawks Ice Hockey team, to help maintain the standards required at ENIHL Division 1 North.
To deliver community programmes run by Silver Blades in Blackburn.
To support community teams and school groups, working with them closely to provide enjoyable experiences in sport and physical education. Role may also include encouraging underrepresented groups or young people to participate in sporting activities.
Participating in coaching roles, across senior and junior teams operating within Silver Blades Blackburn
Main duties and responsibilities:
â€¢ To deliver fully inclusive PE / coaching / outreach sessions to a wide range of local schools, clubs, community groups and organisations.
â€¢ To maintain effective records of work undertaken with beneficiaries for the purpose of monitoring and evaluation. These may include registers, case studies and any other records.
â€¢ Develop grassroots ice sport opportunities through delivering sessions in schools and community settings.
â€¢ Supporting the development of junior ice hockey players
â€¢ Assist in the management and staffing of the Arena sports shop.
â€¢ Making sure equipment and apparel is of a satisfactory standard and advising on equipment purchases
â€¢ To maintain a high level of professionalism and enthusiasm during all activity
â€¢ Liaise with local stakeholders, schools, teachers and parents
