James Desmarais Voted Elite League Player of the Week

Stena Line Belfast Giants forward James Desmarais has been named EIHL Player of the Week.

Desmarais scored a hat-trick, which included the game winning goal, during Belfast’s 5-4 victory over Erhardt Conference rivals Nottingham at The SSE Arena on Friday night.

The 37-year-old followed that performance up with a further two goals during the 6-0 win against the Dundee Stars on Saturday, as the Giants closed the gap on league leaders Cardiff to just one point during the course of the weekend.

Desmarais now has ten goals and 22 points in 32 Elite League games for the Giants so far this season, with a further two goals and six points in ten Challenge Cup games.

The Giants travel to South Yorkshire this weekend for back-to-back games against the Sheffield Steelers at the Sheffield Arena.
