It’s a Wild Double Header Weekend!

Wild face their first double header weekend of the season as they travel to Yorkshire on Saturday to take on the Bradford Bulldogs, before returning home to play the Coventry Blaze on Sunday.

Despite only having secured two points from two games the Wild have had a fairly successful start so far.  Their first game for the season saw them comfortably defeat the Coventry Blaze 6-0 at the Coventry Skydome before running the Deeside Dragons close 7-5 at home last weekend.

Firstly the Wild make the short trip along the M62 to Bradford to face the Bulldogs. In years gone by Bradford have propped up the league table however this season has seen the Yorkshire team make some significant improvements.  Although favourites to take the two points it won’t be an easy game for the Wild and they will need to turn up focussed and ready to play for the full sixty minutes.

Then on Sunday the Coventry Blaze will travel north up the M6 to Widnes,11938933_861100043974101_1347506003_n desperate to avenge their loss at home on the opening day of the season.  Coventry have some talented young players in their squad as well as some experienced players such as Dale Buckland who know how to play the physical game and grind out a result, meaning the Wild will need to show steely determination in order to play their fast and flowing brand of hockey.

Coach Mckenzie had this to say about the upcoming games on the weekend.

‘I’m looking for two solid perfomances on Saturday and Sunday. When we played at home to Deeside we played great for fifty minutes but had a mental lapse during the second period which really cost us the game. The guys have to learn from that and take it into this weekend.’

‘It won’t be easy but with two solid practices this week and having had last weekend off, the guys will be prepared fully and will have no excuses come Saturday,’ added McKenzie.

If fans want to travel to Bradford on Saturday there are still spaces left on the coach to Bradford for Saturday and the price is £6 for members of the Wild supports club, the Wild Ones and £11 for non-members.  If you’d like more information contact Scott Mckenzie for details;
