It’s a Dunn deal…

Joining Blackburn Hawks for the 2015-2016 season is none other than Andy Dunn.

Andy spent many of his formative years playing over in Hull for the Kingston Jets, before moving back over this side of the Pennines to play for Trafford Metro’s, then Manchester Minotaurs.

Coach Daniel MacKriel says:
“Andy was another key player who I wanted to talk to when I took over the head coaches position so we are delighted he has agreed to join us. He is a good solid D-Man who will compliment the current and new defensive line up very well and brings more experience to the back line. He is a good skater, can handle the puck, plays the situations very well and he reads the game to a high level.

Its important to me that the new signings so far know the team, know the players and the league. Andy will fit in perfectly in the room meaning the team spirit of the squad is further enhanced by this addition!

We tried to get him over a few times which didn’t work for one reason or another, but now its pleasing to know that Andy will be a Hawk this season!!”

Andy joins fellow ex-Minotaur Max Drakeley at the nest this season.

Andy had this to say:
“I’m excited to be part of the Hawks this season, I’ve heard nothing but good things about the setup here and I’ve always enjoyed playing here in front of the big crowd.

I got into hockey through watching the Storm with my Dad & brother. I started out playing hockey in Altrincham aged 12 and played there for a few seasons until the old rink closed down. It was then when I got asked to play in Hull, which was a great experience for me. I played most of my junior and senior hockey over there and I learned a lot from it.

I’ve had a few chances over the years to be part of the Hawks, but when Budzie got in touch, I felt the time was right. It helps that I know quite a few of the guys already through playing junior hockey together and they’d told me it’s a great place to play.”

We hope that you will all make Andy feel welcome at the rink this season!
