It had to be Ju-raj! Senko is Sharks’ first summer signing

Building Craftsmen Dumfries sponsored Solway Sharks are delighted to announce defenceman Juraj Senko has signed up for another season at the Ice Bowl.

The 31 year old from Zilina, Slovakia will begin his fifth season as a Shark in September as the Dumfries-based club look to build on the second half of last season and battle for honours in the National Ice Hockey League.

Senko iced in a total of 37 games last season, bagging 18 goals and 28 assists for a total of 46 points.  For a blueliner, Senko only sat a remarkable six minutes of penalties all year.

When the ink had dried on the contract, Martin Grubb couldn’t hide his delight at the signing.

“Juraj is an impact player in this league and one of the guys that brings a great work ethic along with a desire to win and every team needs that,” he said.

“He is highly skilled and wants to get the Solway Sharks back to the top of the NIHL so it was an easy decision for the club to bring him back. He always puts up good numbers and wants to improve on how he played last year and he will play another big part on this team.”

Juraj Senko will wear his familiar #18 jersey once again as the BCD Sharks compete in the National Ice Hockey League Moralee Division 1 North starting in September.

Look out for more player news very soon as the build-up to the 16-17 season continues throughout the summer.
