Hutchinson Returns To Phantoms

The DALROD sponsored Peterborough Phantoms have this evening announced the return of Defenceman James Hutchinson to the club for the forthcoming season.

Hutchinson first played for the Cambridgeshire club in 2006/7, remaining with the club for 3 seasons, before leaving to join the Elite Leagues Hull Stingrays. “Hutchy” returned in 2010, before spending the 2011 season with the Belfast Giants of the Elite League. Although he started last season with the Phantoms, he finished the season at the Slough Jets.

As well as being part of the Phantoms Treble winning team, Hutchinson has also won Bronze with GB U18, Silver and Gold with GB U20 plus an Elite League winners medal with the Belfast Giants.

Phantoms Head Coach Jon Kynaston, speaking on Wednesday evening said “James made it very clear he only wanted to play in the EPL for the Phantoms. He is fitter now than at any point in the last 6 years and is determined to be an impact player this coming season.

“His passion and desire to not only play here, but to come back here and show everyone what he can do, was really strong. He is ready to have a great season and he is joining us having turned down other stronger offers.

“James wants to be here and wear the Phantoms shirt, and he feels he has a point to prove.

“It is good to have the experience of a player like James on our blue line. I am delighted to add James to our team and know he will fit in positively on and off the ice”.

Also speaking on Wednesday, Hutchinson said “I just want to show the fans that I am a better player than I was last season. The team that is being put together looks a lot stronger than what the Phantoms have had in a long time.

“If the names that have been mentioned come through we will be able to challenge for trophies this season and i’m looking forward to help get phantoms away from the bottom of the table.”
