Braehead Clan returned to winning ways as they comprehensively saw off Coventry Blaze in a 6-0 rout.

The Clan were ahead inside only 21 seconds when Ben Davies was on hand to tap in after Matt Haywood had tested Brian Stewart in Coventry’s goal.

Then the home side were two up as Matt Keith swept the puck from the middle of the opposition D zone on goal, with Alex Leavitt getting a tip to divert it in.

Scott Pitt made it 3-0 early in the middle period with a wraparound goal to really open a gulf between the teams.

Chris Bruton’s wrist shot on Stewart’s goal led to the fourth goal as Pitt nabbed his second of the night with the final touch.

Then Thomas Nesbitt finished a fifth with a tap in from in front of the crease and Clan were five up and cruising after two periods.

Coventry swapped Stewart for Renny Marr in the third period in an attempt to stop the rot, but they were breached again.

Davies added an assist to his earlier goal to set up Matt Haywood who fizzed in a powerful diagonal shot and the points were clinched as Chris Holt picked up his first shutout of the season.
