Giants overcame a stiff test in Braehead to take their winning streak to five and one loss from fifteen, with Dustin Whitecotton firing in the overtime winner.

Giants remain seventeen points clear at the top while Clan’s one point keeps them in third spot in the league standings.

Giants had the major share of the play in an opening period watched by another 3000 plus crowd but it took until late on for the first goal, Ash Goldie firing Clan ahead at 17.06. Giants were in no mood to lose a period, never mind a game and drew level at 18.44 thanks to a smart finish from Jeffrey Szwez.

Clan were much more in the game in period two offensively and both sides went close without troubling the scorer further. That’s the way it remained in the third with chances being create and missed but it was mainly defences on top with little in the way of clear cut opportunities on offer.

Into overtime where the four on four became three on three for a spell but when there was a Clan defensive slip it was Whitecotton who took full advantage to skate in and fire past Kyle Jones to give Paul Adey’s men the extra point and a step further towards the title.
