A run of six wins in the last seven games has placed Telford in a stable play-off position for the first time since the club was reformed in 2009.

Just one point separates eighth-placed Tigers from Slough Jets in sixth, as the substantial investment by new owners Red Hockey begins to bear fruit.

And with his squad now training four times a week, Watkins believes momentum is critical in the push to remain in those play-off positions. He said: “I do glance at the league table, because I like to know where we are and how that can put pressure on other sides.

“It feels like we have been playing catch-up for years, but we’ve now made it into a healthy position.

“Continuing our current run is important, because we want to keep our momentum. We are having some great training sessions at the moment, which are fun, but also very hard work for the guys.
