HAWKS Defence remains strong

We are excited to announce that Ollie Lomax and Chris Butler are both remaining at Blackburn for the 2015/2016 season.

Lomax, a Blackburn local and staunch stalwart of the club is a product of the Blackburn Junior system, and has played for the Hawks for over 10 years.  He is set to return for yet another season with his beloved club.

Joining Ollie in defence is Chris Butler, for what will be his 6th season with the Hawks.  Butler joined for the 2009/10 season and hasn’t looked back since.  Butler is also a key component of the Hawks defence and doesn’t mind getting physical when required.

Blackburn Hawks coach Daniel MacKriel said:

“Keeping both Ollie and Chris at Blackburn for the new season means our defensive core will remain solid and gritty.  I thought they both had a good season last year but as the league is improving I expect them both to push on from where they left off and improve again.

With Ollie you know what your getting – he wears his heart on his sleeve, will do anything for the cause and loves his club!

Chris probably is an underrated defender. He goes about his business quietly but effectively and is tough to beat one on one.

They are both quality re-signings and I’m looking forward to seeing them both back on the ice in Hawks colours.”

With both Ollie and Chris powering the back line, going into the 2015/2016 season the Blackburn Hawks continue to have a tenacious D that last year helped the Hawks go undefeated on their journey to become league champions.
