Hämäläinen looks for shock win against Sheffield

Braehead Clan captain Ville Hämäläinen believes the Clan can pull off a shock win this Saturday and build momentum for their playoff push.

The current EIHL Playoff Champions the Sheffield Steelers are the visitors to Braehead Arena on Saturday (7:00pm face-off), with the Clan looking for an important win on home ice.

The Clan are currently sitting in 8th and a playoff spot, with the Coventry Blaze joint on 43 points in 9th. While the Dundee Stars are currently only 3 points behind in 10th.

“Sheffield are one of the top teams in this league and with our current form a win would be a big surprise” said the Finnish forward.

“However we’ve said this a lot of times this season, we can compete against any team on any night in this league – we just have to our strengths and cut out the mistakes.

“With only eight games now left in the regular season, every game is a big one and we need to ensure we do what we can to come away with the wins.

“The Purple Army will have a big part to play, when the arena is loud it really gives the guys another gear and that’s important right now.”
