24-year-old Davison has been a part of the Billingham club since junior days, save the two seasons that the Forum was closed. Since the team’s return as the Stars Davison has played up front and at the back, indeed wherever the coaches have needed him. Primarily a defenseman last year, Davison put in some sterling performances that were enough to earn him Best Defensive Player at the end-of-season Presentation Night.

A Billingham native, Davison is delighted to be back and happy to play wherever the team need him:

“I was very pleased to receive the award for my efforts throughout the season, I feel like I played a lot of minutes most games and left everything out there on the ice every game. I thought my overall performance last season was good and my game developed massively over the year. Next season I’d like to pick up where I left off, handling the pressure the top teams put on us in our own end. I’d like to put more points up and have more of an impact in special teams. I’d also like bring my physical game on, putting in more hits in a game which will wear players down and pay off going into the later parts of the game. Along with shooting to score at every opportunity I get, I missed some chances that could have changed score lines in games last season.

Last season I think injuries didn’t help the Stars’ cause, however we lacked discipline making the right decisions on the puck which was a big factor. You can’t go from having possession in good areas to turning the puck over in this League, teams will capitalise on counterattacks the majority of the time. Also the consistency of our game was poor, we switched off for periods and teams punished us for it. Next season obviously I’d like to win everything we are competing for but we won’t know if that is realistic until we see how other teams recruit this summer. But definitely we should be pushing for the League title or securing a high playoff spot – last season it was all a little too late when we went on a big push for fourth position and obviously that cost us competing at the weekend in Sheffield.

I feel I am most effective at the back and feel more confident there, I think I bring more to the team’s performance rather than being up front. Although if needs must I’m quite happy to switch roles depending on the players that are on the bench on game night and where we need to strengthen up.”
