Giants Blaze A Trail With 4-1 Win Against Coventry

The Stena Line Belfast Giants and Elite League Champions made it fifteen wins in-a-row with a 4-1 win against the Coventry Blaze to complete a four point weekend following Saturday’s win in Fife. The Giants completed a successful weekend on the road thanks to goals from Evan Cheverie, Adam Keefe, Kevin Saurette and Dustin Whitecotton.

Belfast created a club record of 17 straight games without a loss with this win against Coventry, their previous best was 16 in season 07/08. The next target is straight wins in the league which currently stands at 18 and they are currently on 16.

The Giants opened the scoring at 4.37 as Evan Cheverie was on target. The hosts restored equality at 9.15 with a goal from Mike Egner. Giants captain Adam Keefe restored the visitors lead as he fired home at 17.03. The lead was increased in the final minute of the first period as Kevin Saurette scored on the powerplay at 19.17.

Both teams had chances in the second period but neither could bulge the net and the period ended goalless and the Giants took their two goal lead into the third period.

Plenty of chances were created in the third (26) in all but in the end only the one goal was scored and it was a fourth goal of the game for the Giants as Dustin Whitecotton scored on the powerplay at 45.10.
