Frustration As Coventry Game Cancelled – But Wild To Play Hawks This Sunday!
Goal action from Coventry Blaze’s first visit to Widnes earlier in the season.
The RTL-sponsored Widnes Wild had a frustrating weekend as their Laidler Division game at home to Coventry Blaze on Sunday had to be cancelled due to technical issues at their Silver Blades rink.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, the other teams involved in the title race who did play games at the weekend all picked up points, meaning that the Wild are now down to 4th place in the league table with ground to make up on the teams above them.
Telford Tigers remain top of the table and now have 38 points from 28 games, Sutton Sting are second with 36 points from 23 games. Hull Jets are third with 36 points from 24 games and Widnes are fourth with 34 points from 24 games.
The Wild’s game away to Hull Jets that had originally been scheduled for this Saturday 3rd February has now been postponed due to the Hull venue being needed for the Hull Pirates cup semi-final match against Sheffield Steeldogs that day instead.
However, in another change to the original fixture list, Widnes will now be at home to the Blackburn Hawks N2 development team this Sunday 4th February. The game will face off at the slightly later time of 6.30pm instead of the usual 5.30 start and doors will open at 5.45pm.
