French Star Joins The Dragons

Today is Bastille Day and is the French national day and the most important bank holiday in France! Setting the storming of the Bastille in 1789 as an essential part of the French History. The 14th July has become a major public holiday, traditionally considered as the symbol of the French Revolution. So we thought what a great day to announce that the Dragons Ice Hockey club are delighted to introduce French import Mickael Brodin as Player/Assistant Coach.

Brodin comes to The Dragons after some time out from the sport but with a glistening resume. A career only spent within the top league in France, Brodin brings a lot of experience with him that is sure to be invaluable to the Dragons locker room, Dragons Player-Coach Scott Mckenzie is delighted to be able to bring someone of Brodin’s calibre to The Den; “What can I say about this signing, it is a massive one for our club. Mike is a true professional and we are very lucky to be able to see him in a Dragons jersey. He is loyal, hard working and I have had nothing but great feedback about him. He played with a friend of mine a few years ago and everything he told me about Mike was extremely positive.

Not only is Mike a leader with a wealth of experience, but he is a gifted hockey player. He will add grit, hockey smarts and hopefully a few points along the way too. I am really excited about bringing Mike to Deeside and I urge the fans to get behind us with this one.” During Brodin’s illustrious career, he spent time with Reims, Amiens, Dijon, Caen and most recently Morzine-Avoriaz where he was the captain for four consecutive seasons. Brodin also represented his Country at both Under 18’s and U20’s playing in three World Championships for France. For British hockey fans, to show the standard of the league Mike has been playing in, players that have spent time there are the likes of Ben O’Conner, Colin Shields, Peter Szabo and Matic Kralj. This shows the calibre of player The Dragons are bringing in to NIHL1 Moralee Conference.

The player spoke earlier in the week to the Dragons and had this to say about his move to Deeside

‘I have had a long hockey career playing in the Elite League in France so hope I can bring my experience to Deeside. They’re a promising young team so I’d like to help develop their potential wherever I can. In agreement with the coach, of course! I’m genuinely excited to be playing for my first ever U.K. team and to start the next adventure!”

Mike Brodin will be wearing the #14 jersey for The Dragons during the 17/18 campaign, you can Own & Loan Mike’s jerseys for just £100 per jersey by emailing
