Forward Of The Year Kevin Saurette Returns
The Stena Line Belfast Giants are pleased to announce the return of Kevin Saurette who will be back at the Odyssey Arena for the 2014/15 season. Saurette was named Forward of the year last season by the Giants Season Ticket Holders after leading the Giants scoring charts with 36 goals and 39 assists in 59 games played. In only his second season and first ‘full season’ with the organisation Saurette was named in the Elite League First All-Star team and was a nominee for the Elite League Player of the Year.
The hard-hitting power forward brings a great mix of size and skill to the Giants lineup and moved to Belfast during the 2012/13 season from ESV Kaufbeuren in Germany and made an instant impact in the Elite League, posting 39 points in 34 games.
General Manager Todd Kelman spoke about Saurette:
“Kevin actually signed a two year deal last season and I am pleased to confirm to all our fans that he will indeed be back in a Giants jersey for the 2014-15 season.
“Saurette is a dominant player in this league and was instrumental in the league championship this past season. I am very pleased to have him back for another year and hopefully we will be talking about making an even longer commitment to Belfast sometime next season.
“My intention is to have him finish his career as a Giant and I know he has a few years left in him. I expect him to have another big season with us next year.â€
Saurette is a player that can log a lot of ice time and last season he finished 6th overall in the Elite League scoring race, as well as netting 12 powerplay goals to finish the season in second place on the Giants team. He is currently finishing up his Masters Degree in Business (MBA) at the University of Ulster.
