Flames take win over Braehead Clan

After falling back a goal a little over halfway through the first, a sold out Spectrum watched as successive replies by Charles Wells and John Dunbar had the Flames in a lead they would not give up the rest of the way during a 3-1 home win over Braehead Clan.  The Scottish visitors got on the board first when Jacob Doty netted at 11:21.  14th and 17th minute Flames replies by Wells and Dunbar before the period closed had Spectrum’s men up a goal at the break.  Just past the game’s halfway point, Kruise Reddick, with the only strike of the 2nd, had the Flames enjoying 2 goal advantage that would ultimately hold up as the final before Chris Carrozzi in the Flames net and Ryan Nie at the other end traded a scoreless last frame.

“With our playoff position almost set, our primary focus now is on playing the kind of hockey that might allow us to be successful in the Quarter Finals,” said Head Coach Paul Dixon.

“Playing a team like Braehead who were in a must win situation was a good spot for us to be in because in theory you are up against a team who has a lot to lose if they can’t get a result so you know you are going to get every bit of intensity they can muster.”

“We did a great job of responding to them when they got out in front.  That could have been a real momentum swing, but we made sure that we grabbed a bit of traction in turning it back around.”

“We want to finish strong tomorrow night in Coventry and hopefully go into the playoffs on the back of another win, and we are looking forward to that challenge.”
