Flames edged at Braehead Clan

At Braehead, the Flames lost the handle on a 2 goal lead, and a late Tyler Scofield powerplay goal completed the Clan rally as they sent Spectrum’s men back to the motorway on the back of a 3-2 defeat.  Calle Ackered commenced the scoring 32 seconds into the middle frame on a powerplay, and Jesse Craige had the visitors 2 goals to the good on another man advantage exactly 12 minutes later.  The Clan, however, pulled even with a pair of quick goals before the period timed out. Scofield cut the deficit in half at 37:01 and Jacob Doty knotted the affair 45 seconds later.    Scofield’s winner, and 2nd of the contest, came at 57:43 during a Mikael Lidhammar boarding major penalty.

“It is always hard to take when you are a few minutes from a regulation point, especially that far out on the road, and then go away with nothing,” admitted Paul Dixon.

“It was a pretty even game, and we played well in the 1st period right up to late in the 2nd when the lead disappeared.  Braehead did take control more in the later stages, and they did a good job to secure a win in a game that was open for either team to grab.”

“We will be frustrated for a period of time on the journey back, no question, but we can’t sit on that for too long.”

“We will try to look at the areas where we faltered and see if we can improve at MK in a few days.”
