Flames collect conference title with 1-0 win

Travis Fullerton had a shutout while backing the Flames to their historical first ever Elite League trophy thanks to a 1-0 win over Manchester Storm that nails down the Patton Conference title.

Spectrum’s men had the only goal of the 1st period when John Dunbar buried a TJ Foster feed on a powerplay just prior to the 12-minute mark.

Travis Fullerton helped keep that lead in tact with 14 middle frame saves, and the clubs closed out 40th minutes still with just the 1 goal on the board.

Storm went with an extra skater in lieu of netminding during the late stages as they tried to even the count, but Fullerton and the Flames would not be denied their first milestone achievement as an Elite league member.

“It’s pretty exciting to be able to celebrate our first trophy in this league,” said Head Coach Paul Dixon.

“This group of guys bring a passion and desire to the game every time they are on the ice, and they deserve this.”

“Obviously we have a lot in front of us with the Cup final, and the playoff chase, but certainly this is a real achievement for this group and we will enjoy it before moving forward for whatever comes next.”
