Flames blast Capitals 10-1

Brett Ferguson had a 4 point night while Kruise Reddick and Geoff Walker each posted a Hat Trick to fuel a goalfest that ended with a 10-1 win over the visiting Edinburgh Capitals.   Less than 2 minutes into the contest the Flames converted a powerplay with a Reddick goal.  At 12:37 Ben Campbell delivered on a Rhett Rachinski feed to double the difference.  Just 10 seconds later, Reddick intercepted a clearing pass in perfect scoring position and let off a high rocket to make it a 3-0 count.  Late in the frame, on another powerplay, Ferguson’s effort to stuff it away didn’t take but the rebound was collected by Geoff Walker who made it 4-0 through the opening period.  Walker added another at 24:47. The Capitals finally struck back a couple of minutes later with a Dylan Anderson powerplay marker to set the score at 5-1, but Spectrum’s tenants re-established the 5 goal difference when a last minute John Dunbar goal had them up 6-1 at the close of the 2nd.    The scoring continued with Reddick’s 3rd of the night less than a minute into the final stanza and Walker completed his 3 goal effort at 48:31 while making it 8-1.  Rachinski added the 9th at 54:16 and Brennan Yadlowski made it an even 10 with the game’s final goal less than 4 minutes from time.

“We jumped on them early, and that is sort of how it was for the remainder of the evening,” said Head Coach Paul Dixon.

“It is great news to pick up a win at the close of a very busy part of the schedule.”

“There isn’t really a lot to go over from a game like that, so we just bank the points and immediately try to look ahead to a big weekend when Cardiff Devils visit on Saturday and then a trip to Manchester on Sunday.”
