Fire secure Armour for another season

Cardiff Fire are pleased to announce the return of Alan Armour for another season.

This will be Armours 4th season in a Cardiff shirt after spending 09/10 playing for the Cardiff team that finished runners up in division one, then returning for the 12/13 and also returning to Cardiff for his 3rd spell last year for Fire’s championship season.  The Swindon native has played at the top level of British hockey and has represented Swindon, Bracknell, Oxford, Isle of Wight, Bristol and Cardiff. Alan also represented Great Britain and England at junior level.

Fire fans will be delighted to see Alan return and has always been a fan favourite wherever he has played.

Mark Cuddihy added “It’s great bringing Alan back, when we started the Fire Alan had just retired from playing. We called him straight away and told him our plans, it took us about 5 mins to talk him out of retirement. I’ve known Alan for a very long time, I’ve played against him and with since I was 12 years old. He’s a great competitor, an entertainer and one of the best dressing room guys you could wish for. He helps the club a great deal on and off the ice”

Alan continued “It’s no surprise to anyone I’m back with the Fire this year. Cudd asked me pretty much at the end of last year and I told him my answer is always going to be yes for as long as he wants me.

Playing for Cardiff really does feel like home now, and I love the city, the team and the people, so much so I’m moving here for good this month.

This bunch of people is way more than a team and we use the Hashtag #FireFamily because that is exactly what we are.

This year I am hoping we build on last years success, both on and off the ice, improve as a team unit and most importantly continue having fun. I want to make it a hat trick of consecutive league titles for me and go one better and win the playoffs too. Add to that our entry into the cup and there is a tasty treble up for grabs.

September 25th can’t come soon enough for me”
