Cardiff Fire played Bristol at Oxpens Road Oxford last night for the first time this season and skated to a 4-2 victory.

Bristol were awarded a penalty shot early in the first period and took advantage of the opportunity to take the lead. Fire then took control of the game and had 2 goals disallowed as the Bristol goalie persistently took the net off its moorings. The pressure continued to build and Jordan Powell got the equalising goal after 14 mins on the powerplay with Sedlak finding Powell on the back door. Just 5 mins later Bristol with targeting Jordan Powell they ran into some penalty trouble, receiving a 2+10 for a check from behind, running Powell into the boards. It was that powerplay that saw the Fire take the lead with a goal from Ricky Deacon late in the first.

The second period was a scrappy affair, with Cardiff now reacting to the targeting.  Richie Hargreaves scored an equalising goal 6 mins into the 2nd.  Another late hit from behind on Powell saw Elis Sheppard drop the gloves with offender Shone and Sam Bryant drop the gloves Moore. Both wins for the Fire boys.

After losing the 2nd period 1-0 Fire started the 3rd brightly. Just 3 mins into the period Tamas Elias sent Jackson Price on a breakaway who burst through the Bristol defence with speed to score top corner to make the score 3-2 to Fire. Fire continued to test the Bristol goalie and got the 4th goal they deserved. This time is being Jackson Price’s turn to send Tamas down the wing, again the 4th line using speed to great effect. Tamas beat his man to skate in on goal and pull a deke to all but put the game out of sight. A time out called and a change of tactics and the game ended 4-2. Fire extend the winning streak to 6 games.
