Blackburn Hawks have added another new face to the team – we hope you’ll all help us welcome Tom Collins, who will be going the team as the new official fitness coach.
Tom is 23 years old and moved to the area just over a year ago from Stafford.  He’s a former fan of the Telford Tigers so is no stranger to Ice Hockey!
Tom has studied sports coaching and is a qualified PT fitness instructor.
Upon his appointment, Tom had the following to say:
“I’m happy to be involved hands on this season on a full time basis and I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead.  After having spoken to Matt and listened to his plans for the new season and for the future it was an easy decision to make.
I’m delighted to be part of the team and I’m looking forward to getting going and having the opportunity to work with the players.  I will be working with them before and after games to ensure they warm up and cool down appropriately to limit the chances of injury. I will also be working with them during the week on their overall fitness, as well as individual goals such as bulking programs and injury rehabilitation. Â
I’m really excited to be invited to work with such a talented bunch of guys and can’t wait for the season to start, I’m excited for what lies ahead.”
Hawks PR and Media Manager Graham Lomax added “It’s just another example of Matt’s approach to doing things and making improvements in certain areas.  This is just the tip of the iceberg and there is loads more to come over the next few months.
Another example is the new kit designs which have more or less been determined already1
There are more meetings planned this week aimed at helping move the club forward.  It’s still only May but there’s still lots of work to do, so I’d just like to take this opportunity to welcome Tom to the team, onward we go!”
